Friday night at Beth Gylys' release of her new chapbook, "Matchbook",at GSU, I was honored to get to play a "Bad Girl". I chose to wear a skin-tight black skirt, matching midriff top. Both were designed with clear-plastic... in the case of the skirt, it had the see-thru panels down each side, and the top was see-thru in the cleavage area...
Beth's very clever idea for this--a book filled with strong sonnets, written as personal ads, is true genius!
I purchased a broadside of the poem Mike Dockins' read...it's sooo lovely...

Speaking of Mike Dockins, he was one of the readers tonight, at the 4th Annual "Voices Carry" event...
Collin Kelley,Mr. Dockins, Kodac Harrison, and Khadijah Queen, Megan Volpert(aka Dr. Madelyn Hatter), and that always fabulous-looking Cecilia Woloch, were the poets reading....
A wonderful remembrance of Chante' Whitley-Head was given, by her Mom, and there was also a lovely tribute from a young lady--Alicia-- who worked with her at Barnes & Noble.
Were it not for Chante', "Voices Carry" would never have materialized....
"When you speak someone's name who has passed, they remain here, with you..."
The after-party was as wonderful as were the readings...I'll go to sleep tonight with the interesting mix of images from Mike Dockin's "11 Gin and Tonics", and the poignant musings of Kodac and his longing to know his father...

Thank you all for an entertaining, enlightening, uplifting evening...I'd just been to a Saturday evening Mass before heading over to the Gallery. The Communion I felt at Composition Gallery was as real as any, I think.
