TRUE VISION.
Everyone likes to feel they are visionary in some way.In my case, I like that I'll observe something, and two-- or ten years later-- I'll hear someone well-known person (an actor, politician) make a similar or identical remark. I think writers, actors, painters--we're always "on the edge", because, we must be fully present, in order to create.
Having said this, there's one area where I've unfortunately, always(since 5th grade) fallen short: the ability to SEE. Literally. My eyes have gone from 20/40 to 20/60 to 20/250 to 20/400 to 20/600 and now, even worse...The near-sightedness has given sway to older-age and my complete inability to see either faraway, and at times, even medium-close-up. Sigh.
But hope is on the horizon!
I found out today,at Thomas Eye Group, where I've gone for eye care, for years(Atlanta magazine recently rated this practice #1 in Georgia), I may be a candidate for something I've been reading up on, the past two years(I can still read without glasses!) very interested in:
Corrective Therapy Lenses. Worn ONLY at night, they literally "re-shape" the cornea(mine, like most extremely near-sighted folks, is very bent--it is cone-like) such that I will remove the lenses each morning, and see PERFECTLY, without eyeglasses, or contact-lenses--for the next 8-12 hours, when it becomes necessary to "retrain" my cornea, in order for me to see well again, the next day.
There are no side effects, no drugs, and it is perfect for those of us who are not ideal candidates for lasik.
Keep fingers crossed for me. Hope, a prayer, and corrective lenses. I'd be so happy to be able to go to an audition, fully able to read(without putting on glasses!) the teleprompter from a distance.
How 'bout you kids out there? Any great stories of "sight restored"? Or horror-stories?
