I'm still so sad...
It's been about two-and-a-half days since the massacre at Virginia Tech.
I won't dwell on the gunman, or mention his name--a loner who was deeply toubled, and likely --according to one psychologist--to be schizophrenic--a fractured person, unable to accept counseling.

My Mom has advocated for years that we should teach EMPATHY to very young children(especially children at risk)--via caring for companion animals, and through school programs...

Let me give you a young man's name worth remembering--- one young man at Georgia Tech--right here in Atlanta. He's created a Remembering VT Wristband...

REMEMBERING 4/16

Wristbands to Remember OUR Generation

WE ARE READY TO MAKE THIS A REALITY

It is absolutely unbelievable and tragic to see such a massacre occur like the events that unfolded at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007. At the same time, it is exhilarating to see fellow students nationally and internationally band together to offer prayers and support to the friends, family and all those affected in the awful tragedy that stole several faculty and students from our world.

This tragic historical event has students across the nation taking a moment to check-in and better understand what happened at Virginia Tech and looking for additional information, answers as well as how we can help locally. There is now a way to band together and offer our support through a simple display of orange rubber wristbands that reads:

"Remembering VT – 4.16.07"

F.O.O.T.S.T.E.P.S- Students Helping Students

With the leadership from members of a student run, rising non-profit organization based out of Atlanta, GA, F.O.O.T.S.T.E.P.S (http://www.makingfootsteps.org), wristbands will be ordered and distributed across University campuses nationwide for students to show their unity, support and prayers for those affected by the Virginia Tech tragedies. Wristbands will be ordered with your contributions via our website with all proceeds being donated to the families and Virginia Tech relief efforts. The purpose is to bring together students to take part in making a difference in these peoples lives.

Details: Thanks to all for an overwhelming response and an unselfish and eager sense to help out in this cause. After receiving hundreds of emails with addresses and names and stories at schools internationally wanting to distribute wristbands, we are ready to mobilize.
