UNEXPECTED: DARK DAYS

Recently, a friend e-mailed, sounding quite "down". Turns out, this person is incredibly depressed. And scared.
If there's someone--anyone--in your life, who you've been meaning to write to,or call, DO IT NOW.
Leave this blog, and go seek him/her out.
If you suspect someone is depressed, and they DON'T share it with you, your comforting words might come, too late.
Make the phone call. Write a note, and mail that card!
If you or someone you know is severely depressed, please call the numbers below. Trained professionals are there, waiting to listen, and offer help.
The national suicide hotline numbers are:
1-800-SUICIDE
1-800-273-Talk

Peace, kids.

You're wonderful Lisa! I hope you're friend is all right and you were able to reach him or her.

You are absolutely right about seeking out a professional most people make the mistake of confiding in friends who very often do not realize the criticality of the situation.

Not that I need them but I just came by to get and remember the numbers. Thanks!

Thank you for reminding us that we really need to pay attention and listen to a "call for help". I'm trying to encourage my sister who is trying to come to my state and on the county housing list here. She is living in such poverty staying with someone who's family is so dysfunctional..better than living on the street she says. I'm trying to giver her resources and know that when she comes to this county there will be professional people here to help her.

I hope she will make it through.

Thank you once again for the reminder for all of us not to "turn and look the other way" at others suffering.

Blessings and hope your doing well Lisa,

Rhi

Average Patriot--Why, thank you, kind sir!
I hope the days are bright where you are.
And yes--depressed people need PROFESSIONAL help. Friends are not "trained" to offer solutions/therapy.(though we can offer support!).
Average Patriot--Thanks! :)
Rhiannon--Thank you.I'll be meditating on, and praying for"Rhiannon's sister" tonight.
Peace & Blessings to you, too! :)

This is such an important thing to highlight. When the dark days descend it is nice to know someone cares. Thank you, Lisa.

Pixies--Indeed, sweetie.
I have a dear friend who never calls his sister and other family members, citing he doesn't "...know them well". My thinking is: how will heEVER know them, if he doesn't TRY to stay-in-touch? Sad.
Thanksforstopping in!
Selma--Hello, sweet friend.
I wanted to post about it,because lately, it feels like depression hits more folks, more often. We all know someone who is very depressed.
We're all here to support each other, so let's DO that! :)

What an important post. Reminding me of a letter from my brother I must reply to. He wasn't depressed-sounding, but he lives alone and has medical issues so things can't be that great. I'll write him today.
